IS THE FITNESS INDUSTRY AND THE GYM INDUSTRY THE SAME INDUSTRY?

Gym Services in Far North Dallas - Extreme Iron Pro Gym

You hear it and read it all the time on the internet, Bodybuilders, Powerlifters, Strongmen, and other “Muscle Personalities”, categorizing what they do as “FITNESS”, …is it?

When I hear FITNESS INDUSTRY, I think of corporate gyms like Lifetime and Equinox. I think of low cholesterol and even lower blood pressure. I think of preventive medicine through good lifestyle choices. I think of strength training and group exercise classes. This is all just my opinion, the fitness and the gym industry has some similarities, but they are not the same.

Make NO mistake, the Gym Industry is all about change. Low body fat, High Muscle Density. Numbers, numbers, and numbers. In the gym industry it’s about tracking your progress, moving forward, making improvements. No matter how big, no matter how small, you are improving.

Another big factor that separates the two industries is BRO SCIENCE. The gym industry is more about what has been tried and experienced versus what has been researched and documented. Not slamming anyone, but I hear more techniques that are urban myth and are more about the pursuit of HARDCORE TRAINING without any HARDCORE SCIENCE. I totally understand that people just want to train hard and in a manner that produces results. What I am saying is don’t go blindly or have faith in a program or system that has no evidence to back up its claims.

We need the fitness industry. It is the other side of the coin. It’s like a cautious friend, looking both ways before crossing the street. It’s given us, SPIN, BODY PUMP, workout DVD’s, TRX, STEP AEROBIC’S, FUNCTIONAL TRAINING, and the world famous STABILITY BALL. And even though we may not use their disciplines, the fitness industry send us more like minded people into our gyms.

As a member of the GYM INDUSTRY I want our own category, I don’t want to share it with anybody who doesn’t represent what I do in the correct way. I completely understand why the two get confused so I am on a mission to make sure that gets changed. Because when we answer the phone you will not hear us say… “EXTREME IRON PRO FITNESS, oh hell NO!!!!!!”

EXTREME IRON PRO GYM!!!

until next time.
